ultimate end result. JOB SUMMARY: -- The chemist is responsible for
performing a wide range of tests and research services required for
the development, manufacture, and support of fertilizers, as well
as pesticides on fertilizer for both liquid and dry. This
individual will also be very involved with quality control of raw
materials and finished goods.The employee s primary duty must be
the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to
the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena s
customers.-- The employee s primary duty must also include the
exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to
matters of significance. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include the
- Performs routine tests on various fertilizers and pesticides to
determine a variety of results including but not limited to,
compatibility, PH reading, salinity, storage (shelf life),
handling, application, etc.
- Develops and advises the production department on quality
control processes and procedures, guidelines and best practices for
storage, handling and blending of raw material fertilizers to
maximize quality of finished products.
- Calculates data, records results, and keeps appropriate records
on all testing.-- Reports results to supervisor in a timely
- Routinely uses testing equipment to ensure raw materials and
finished products meet specifications.
- Assists in formulating fertilizer blends and advises on which
raw materials are best suited for the blend to meet end user s
needs while maintaining a quality blend.
- Uses Helena s Agvance system to formulate fertilizer
- Assists in training Helena employees on proper methods of
formulating fertilizer blends.
- Develop and maintain protocol for proper sampling and storage
of finished fertilizer products and tailings (both dry and

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: -- Bachelor s degree in Chemistry or
related field and a familiarly with basic laboratory skills is
required. Prior analytical or bench experience in a chemical
laboratory is highly preferred. SKILLS and ABILITIES:
